The Resting Springs District was organized by William D. and Robert O. Brown, who previously made silver discoveries near Darwin, California. Initially named the Brown’s Treasure District, it was later renamed the Resting Springs District after the water source on the Old Spanish Trail.

In 1947, Anaconda Copper bought Tecopa Consolidated. Anaconda operated the Tecopa mines until 1952, then resumed operations from 1956 into 1957, when mining was again terminated.
